Pictures from driving and camping on the White Rim Trail (Road)

Canyonlands National Park, Utah

June 2015

The WRT is well known as an off-road journey. This is as good a description as any I've seen.
It can be described as 'moderately difficult in good weather'. I'd say it's primarily just a slow drive; e.g., 35 miles in 9 hours. Many sections are rough, or steep, or narrow, or deep sand, or badly rutted, or have sharp turns, or some combination - but it is not really very difficult with respect to any of those conditions (could be much worse in wet conditions).
If you're interested in the vehicle and recovery equipment I had with me, it's here .
I went in June for good (not wet) weather, and a small crowd. It was ~10 degrees hotter than the advertised June high of 93, and didn't cool to 80 until about 10pm - but I survived fine. I only saw 4 other visitor vehicles during the 3 days I was there - 2 going each way. Also one ranger, and one other vehicle (see in pictures)

Here's a picture of the area, taken from the larger one here .

My amateur panorama from Grand View Point Overlook is here , and a much better one is here .
